Hey everyone! Today I am here with a wonderful family session. Four years ago I started my photography business and Katlyn was my very first senior session. You can take a look into the past right here (please excuse the mismatched widths of each photo, I was a newbie and still learning!). It’s crazy how four years has gone by, but I love that Katlyn wanted me to take her family photos this October. We started downtown with her parents, brothers and their adorable families before we went to Oak Park.
Thank you Katlyn for picking me to take your photos four years again and again today. You are amazing I am so happy we got to reconnect!
Meet Victoria and Tanner. They are adorable and they are awesome! I knew the moment I met them that I wanted to take their wedding photos. Let me tell you why…well first, Victoria and I were wearing the same shirt at our first meeting, I loved her style, her fiance’s name was Tanner (it’s a great name!), they both met in high school (just like my Tanner and me) and they are just all around awesome. Then at their engagement session we were wearing the same shoes! I know that may seem weird, but when I find a friend with the same great taste in clothes and shoes, I am hooked. :)
Enough about me loving on them and more about them! Like I said, they met in high school at a track meet (they both went to different high schools). Tanner noticed this cute girl on the other team and started talking to her. She was also interested and they continued talking throughout their high school years and into College. Victoria goes to WSU and this past May when she was at her friends graduation, Tanner came to visit. He had bought her concert tickets for her birthday (back in March) and before they headed to the concert, Tanner had Googled two locations to pop the question. The first was the Keeper of the Plains. He asked her if she wanted to go on a walk before the concert and she agreed. They walked for a bit before Victoria said she was hungry. So they went to Bradley Fair and after dinner he asked if she wanted to walk around the pond. Victoria was like, “Why so many walks? We have places to be!” They walked a bit further until Tanner got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes and they made it in time to the concert. :)
Can I just say how much I love photography! I really really do. I especially love getting together with other local photographers where we teach our tips and tricks and learn from one another. It’s pretty darn amazing.
This time around we didn’t know if we would have any models to photograph, so last minute almost everyone brought someone. ha! We ended up with more models than photographers! So things felt a little different than our past meet ups, but that’s okay because I still think we rocked it out and got some awesome shots. This time around I borrowed my friend Neal’s 35mm lens and shot the entire evening with it. I had never shot with it before and wanted to learn and see how amazing it really is. And boy is it amazing. :) I had to get used to it being so wide, but I really enjoyed the look and feel it gave to my photos.
My favorite shot of the evening is of my good friend Christina there on the right. :)
What’s that? Another post about my favorite little family? Why yes, there is. :) What can I say? I love this family.

Caitlin + David and Rachel + Kevin
I love it when my past clients have become friends and I see them at weddings. :) I also love it when they are all down with taking sunset photos on top of a parking garage after the wedding. C+D & R+K, you guys rock and I am so happy I got to hang out with you all again.
Rachel + Kevin just passed their 2 year anniversary and it was a wonderful happenstance that the Scottish Rite, the place they said ‘I do’, was in the background.
